World of Warships is the naval alternative to World of Tanks that's been in development at Wargaming.net for what seems like an ice age.
After an extended period of silence, the developer has finally released the very first gameplay trailer. Explosions, biplanes and some pretty water effects. What more could you want?
The extended development time was probably due to the team wondering how they could transalte World of Tank's fast-paced, tactical combat to the open ocean.
"Historically World of Tanks has been a game more about action than strategy, but using the landscape and the like turned it into something of a tactical game over time,” Wargaming's Mike Federov told us earlier this year.
“However, with World of Warships, we're on the sea. There are no obstacles, usually - at least, very little. A big challenge for the team was to make gameplay that would still inherently be a shooter, but be playable on the entirely flat surface of the ocean.”
There's still no release date set for World of Warships just yet.
