Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima is apparently a big fan of the recently-announced enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
In an interview with CVG, Kojima called the GTAV next-gen trailer ”super impressive”, and said that when he watched it recently he ”got depressed again”. Poor Hideo.
When asked how his upcoming open-world stealth title Metal Gear Solid V compares to what Rockstar has created, the veteran designer heaped praise on his counterparts. ”It’s a bit different because Rockstar is going in a very different direction to what I’m trying to create,” he replied. ”When we say we’re an open-world game it makes it sound like it’s trying to be the same as what those guys are creating. But this is very different - I’m trying to do a free infiltration game.”
”What Rockstar has created and the world they have created is super impressive, and actually when I saw the PS4 version a few days ago I got depressed again. And this is not game design-related, it’s just me. The quality that they showed in the PS4 trailer was really impressive.”
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is coming to consoles soon, either late this year or early 2015. There’s still no news regarding a possible PC version.
GTAV hits PC, PS4 and Xbox One this Fall. Come on Kojima, follow in Rockstar’s footprints and get that PC version of MGSV rolling.
