Dark Souls 2 has received a pretty hefty patch in preparation for new DLC content The Lost Crowns Episode One: Crown of the Sunken King, which is coming out later today.
As well as some quest fixes for the main campaign, the new patch makes some seemingly minor but in reality fairly big changes to PvP - tonnes of weapons have been rebalanced, you can no longer use health restoration items in multiplayer fights, and the stun-lock period following multiple attacks has been reduced.
Knowing Dark Souls as I intimately do, some of these changes will completely throw the balance of combat, requiring hours spent practicing to achieve my previous level of semi-competence. You can check out the full patch notes over at CVG, who have kindly posted the entire list. It’s a big one.
Crown of the Sunken King drops today on Steam for £7.99, taking players to a mysterious underground pyramid filled with unpleasant ways to die and a variety of gribbly new monsters that want to eat your liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
The second DLC, Crown of the Old Iron King, hits on August 26 and the grand finale, Crown of the Ivory King, follows on September 24. All are available as part of the £19.99 Dark Souls 2 Season Pass.
