Far Cry 4’s Pagan Min is doing his level best to be as crazy as Far Cry 3 villain Vaas, and as this new trailer shows he’s certainly got the basics of being a megalomaniac overlord down pretty well.
In other news, the video adds quadbikes and hovercraft to the list of vehicles you’ll be able to hurtle across the fictional province of Kyrat in.
An accompanying press release reveals some more information, largely spoiler-free (but I should stick a SPOILER warning here anyway, I guess), filling in some of Pagan Min’s backstory. The self-proclaimed ‘King of Kyrat’ began his career as a mid-level drug trafficker working for his father. Pagan Senior died in… suspicious circumstances, and new top dog Pagan Min began to carve out quite the criminal empire.
Realising that murdering all your competitors in the drug trade doesn’t do much for your personal safety, Pagan Min eventually started looking for a way out of the drug trade. That’s when he discovered the troubled Himalayan nation of Kyrat, currently in the midst of a messy succession crisis, which seemed ripe for exploitation. He used a Royalist revolt to seize control, then killed the heir to the throne and took his place. Now the ”best dressed man in Kyrat” sits at the head of the country’s military in a position of almost limitless power, opposed only by the Golden Path resistance.
That’s where you come in. Although Pagan Min’s relationship with player character Ajay Ghale isn’t entirely clear yet, in previous trailers it’s suggested they have history together. I Guess we’ll find out when Far Cry 4 hits PC and consoles this November 18.
