I was actually pretty impressed by the lack of bugs I saw when reviewing Pillars of Eternity, but inevitably once the game hit full release they started crawling out of the woodwork
Luckily Obsidian is on the case. According to the developer the crowd-funded RPG’s first patch will drop this week, and should tidy up some of those issues.
“Yes, we’re currently working on patch 1.03,” Obsidian confirms on the game’s support forum, “which we hope to release during the week of March 30. We are actively monitoring the Technical Support forum and pulling issues out into our internal bug database.”
Nice to hear. I’ve been hovering up some side-quests since finishing the game’s main plot, and I noticed a particularly horrible bug where an ogre druid’s ‘Plague of Insects’ spell continued to devour my party out of combat. There’s a literal bug for you.
Still, Pillars is a bit of a beauty, and I’m glad that most people seem to love it as much as I did. Bugs and all. The studio’s also set up a Reddit thread where the community can come for technical advice. Head there if you’re coming up against any major problems.
