Square Enix have just unveiled their Live Action Trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The trailer reveals a lot about what has changed since Deus Ex: Human Revolution, filling in the gaps in history between the shift from the so-called golden era of nanotechnical augmentation to the Mechanical Apartheid.
In the new instalment, society has become divided by fear and hatred. A number of countries have enacted a variety of harsh laws, with the most notable being the ‘Human Restoration Act’. This act is highly controversial and strives to isolate one group, the ‘Augs’, keeping them away from ‘Naturals’. These measures have been introduced in response to a global catastrophe that reared its ugly head in 2027, when mechanically-augmented people suffered extreme psychotic delusions which caused them to lose control. Millions of people died and hundreds of thousands more were severely injured.
