Destiny 2 welcomes a new mini-game in the shape of simple treasure maps. Embracing the weekly reset of typical MMOs, these maps can be picked up and completed once per week and will award seemingly random goodies to those who do.
Considered to be one of the best ways to earn gear closer to Destiny 2's item level cap, the Cayde-6 treasure maps should always be hoarded until you've hit the gear struggle present in the upper-tiers. They can make a big difference to your farming needs and the opportunity they present should be taken advantage of.
During each Destiny 2 content reset players who have completed the main story can head over to Cayde-6 in The Tower. Each of the 5 maps available that week will take players around the planet of the week's Flashpoint event. At 4,800 Glimmer each, they're not too costly - so pick them all up and head to whichever planet they're for.
Then you're simply on a mission to read the clue offered and track down the location of each treasure spot. The booty will be inside a small chest-like cache and usually hidden out of plain site. Get used to the idea of some minor climbing excerises and hunt them all down. A rough marker will even show up on your map, so you're not expected to deduce the entire thing and search the whole planet.
Inside each cache will be randomised loot ranging from rare and legendary gear and some stuff you can give back to Cayde-6 for a little backstory. Players have also reported an item Cayde-6 will take but hardly respond to. It isn't clear what purpose this serves, but maybe he'll dish out an extra reward after receiving a specific amount.
Just make sure to start cracking these open when you're struggling to find gear higher than the soft cap of 265 and you should start to become raid ready before long. With 5 chances per week on top of your usual escapade, this is just another bonus bout of RNG to add to your weekly Destiny 2 activities.
