With the rate at which we're suddenly getting Star Wars movies, it's no surprise to see developers working hard to cover the video game aspect of things.
We already knew of plans for EA and DICE to put out Star Wars Battlefront 2, but could never have anticipated its trailer to leak this early. Yet that's exactly what has happened.
Suddenly appearing on everyone's favorite video platform - Vimeo - user The Spicinberg has provided the world with a 30 second teaser trailer ahead of its proposed appearance at the Star Wars Celebration event over the weekend. Confirming the statements plucked from EA's earnings report a few weeks back, Star Wars Battlefront 2 looks to cover multiple eras of Star Wars history while finally offering the campaign mode that was sorely missed from DICE's first Battlefront title back in 2015.
I'm no Star Wars expert myself, but it looks like we're seeing snippets of a Rogue One campaign, appearences of Kylo Ren and Rey from the new main-line movies and an appearence of everyone's favorite dual-wield lightsaber user Darth Maul. Oh. And Yoda. But we've had enough Yoda over the years anyway, right?
The title is expected to launch in place of a traditional Battlefield game later this year, but EA have stated that they're not obligated to tie their release in with this year's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It could come earlier than the holiday period, but we'll have to keep the guessing to a minimum for now.
