The Doomfist debacle never ends for Overwatch fans. For months we were ready to see the giant glove referenced in map props and voice lines turn into a tangible hero that we all still hope will be voiced by Terry Crews. But each time, the leads fail to materialise. But the latest hint could suggest the next in-game event will finally introduce the brute.
After that whole Sombra ARG situation, it's hard to tell whether a leak from Blizzard is actually just careful planning or just that - a leak. So with the a crashlog of the new PTR patch making mention of both Doomfist and this year's 'Summer Games' event - that's now been stripped out - what are we to expect?
For those not in the know, the PTR (or Public Test Realm) is essentially an early build of the next in-game update that players are free to download and play in order to help test the content before its roll-out onto the 'live' servers. It's essentially a chance for players to try out new content early - and a place any new hero ends up shortly after their announcement.
Latest Overwatch Balance Patch Buffs McCree And Reaper In Time For Season 5
So while Doomfist certainly isn't on the PTR build right now, it's interesting to see the crashlog (posted on Reddit)make mention of the much-rumoured character on the same line as an in-game event from last year that many think will make a comeback. But would we really have another 'Summer Games' event this year without the Olympics being the catalyst? What's the chance of it just being some copy/paste error log haphazardly pulled in from last year?
The last we heard from the Doomfist situation was the coveted glove being stolen from the Numbani map in one update with the map being altered to reflect the event. The resulting patch, however, didn't add Doomfist as a character instead opting for Orisa - a OR15 unit of which Doomfist destroyed many during the feud. Is this Summer the next Doomfist's time to shine?
