We don't know if you've noticed, but in the last few months there have been a lot of Dinosaur Park Management Sim games announced. Jurassic World: Evolution from Planet Coaster developer Frontier is the biggie of course, but there's also the quirky Parkasaurus and the more Tycoon-esque Prehistoric Kingdom. Now we have a fourth one: Mesozoica.
The difference with this one? It was announced first, back in 2015, and it's out now to buy.
We're being a little unfair on Mesozoica as it was actually announced first - it was Kickstarted back in 2015. Developer DreamInCode and Squadron Interactive have been doing pretty frequent updates since then, and unlike the other dinosaur park sims we mentioned it's actually out now to buy on Steam Early Access. Unfortunately they just chose a time that consisted of the announcement or releases of every single Jurassic Park-style management game in the history of gaming - with the exception of Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis of course.
Where Mesozoica is trying to distinguish itself, other than being available to buy already, is in its social scene. Park features can be created Planet Coaster-like and shared amongst the community, or download a building blueprint and import it to your own.
The downside is that Mesozoica has just been released on Steam Early Access and it's apparently really buggy right now, with no tutorial . That will obviously change as patches roll out, but certainly be warned and don't buy it if you want to wait for the finished product.
In other Dinosaur Park Management Sim News (we're seriously thinking of doing this as a weekly update), Prehistoric Kingdom met its funding goal on Kickstarter, so that's definitely on its way, and Parkasaurus has implemented Wear-Ables for the dinosaurs such as Santa hats, scarves and sunglasses. That could be the one to beat.
See you next week for the next Build Your Own Jurassic Park Game update, probably with a new one to announce!
