Happiness in Age of Wonders: Planetfall is one of several aspects important to succesfully developing and maintaining your cities. Although, its importance isn’t as readily visible as that of power or cosmite, you’ll definitely want to know how to manage it.
In a way, happiness in Age of Wonders: Planetfall functions like other resources, having a dedicated number of slots that can be exploited by colonists. This is done from the Colonist Management tab when clicking on any city.
Age of Wonders Planetfall Happiness
You can increase the available numbers of happiness slots through a few of Age of Wonders: Planetfall’s buildings. These are the ones you need to look out for and their associated research:
- Virtual Entertainment Plaza gained through the Colonist Care research
- Botanical Gardens gained through the Environmental Conditioning research
- Recreational Dome gained through the Frontier Facilities research
The happiness income of a given city is added to the happiness pool at the end of each turn. When the happiness amount in your pool reaches the happiness event threshold, a positive event will occur. It’s worth keeping in mind that the bigger your colony, the longer it’ll take to reach the threshold in Age of Wonders: Planetfall.
Conversely, if your happiness is negative, it can reach an unhappiness event threshold. Triggering such an event turns colonists into rioters which still occupy resource slots but yield no income. As opposed to their positive counterparts, unhappiness events occur more easily in bigger colonies.
