Destiny 2 might not have been making headlines all that often over the past few weeks, but the game seems to be in a pretty good place, all things considered. That said, Bungie has just made a mistake of releasing the Wavesplitter on PC, and then making it so that players can't equip the gun at all.
Destiny 2 PC Wavesplitter block wasn't an accident, either, with Bungie deliberately making it unequippable for players who spent money and resources with Xûr in order to get it. The whole ordeal, however, isn't that simple.
Fans of Destiny 2 will recall that the Wavesplitter trace rifle is one of several PlayStation 4 exclusive items that the game launched with, due to Activision partnering up with Sony. Due to this, Wavesplitter hasn't been available on other platforms at all up until now, when Xûr brought the gun along for sale on PC and Xbox as well.
Naturally, people rushed and bought the thing, only for Bungie to quickly deploy a patch making the Wavesplitter impossible to equip on PC and Xbox One. Now, the Wavesplitter is a glorified trophy waiting in their inventories, as Bungie won't outright be taking it back, but won't yet be making it available for use either.
However, the Wavesplitter is - according to Bungie - entering the general Exotic loot pool in September 2019, and that is when the gun will be made available for use across all platforms. Too bad it leaked way too early, though.
