2025’s Fallout Day broadcast was a packed one that included the announcements of new Fallout 4 & New Vegas re-releases as well as updates on what’s next for Fallout 76. When it comes to Bethesda’s online RPG, we got a better look at the Burning Springs update that’s bringing Walton Goggins’ The Ghoul from the hit Fallout TV show into the game, plus an extra surprise…
First thing’s first: The expansion-sized Burning Springs update (free like every content patch before it) is almost here and looks huge. You can watch the trailer below:
Alongside a new main questline set in the desert biome called Burning Springs (located in post-nuclear Ohio), we’ll be taking on low-level and advanced bounties with the help of a local gunslinger those who have watched Prime Video’s Fallout TV show know and love: The Ghoul, voiced by Walton Goggins.
Of course, casual Fallout fans may be wondering about how the timeline makes sense, as 76 is set around the year 2102 and the TV series takes us to 2296. The explanation is quite easy: Ghouls have veeery long lives, and Cooper Howard saw the nukes fall, so he’s been around for a while and all over the Wasteland.
The new preview also teases two new public events that’ll be fun to complete alongside other players:
“Aid the Rust King’s Beastmaster with their menagerie of Deathclaws used in the arena in Gearing Up and protect the citizens of Highwaytown from a volatile swarm of Radscorpions and Stingwings in Sinkhole Solutions!”
Needless to say, new cosmetic rewards, shiny loot, and extra weapons will be coming with the update, which is set to come on December 2, right before Fallout Season 2’s premiere on December 17.
As an extra nugget of news, Bethesda has also announced console players will finally get native PS5 & Xbox Series X/S versions in 2026. Meanwhile, the PC version of the game is on sale for $8 (this includes every content update released so far).
