The Halo: Reach Firefight test is aiming to go live at some point later this month, developer 343 Industries announced in a post looking back at the results of June’s playtest.
June’s playtest –or flight, as the developer calls them– was the first one part of the studio’s effort to bring Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC. It featured a level of the Halo: Reach single-player campaign and, according to the developer, was quite successful.
Halo: Reach Firefight Test
The first playtest was focused on testing a range of different hardware, alongside the Halo Insider Program’s “delivery pipelines”, and it saw 60.7% of people invited participate. Signing up for the Halo Insider Program is currently the only way of having a chance at being invited to playtests for the PC version, as well. 343 Industries provided a rather detailed breakdown of the first flight over on halowaypoint.com.
As the name suggests, the Halo: Reach Firefight test will focus on testing out the title’s Firefight multiplayer mode alongside its matchmaking system. While the developer aims to have it go live later this month, it did note that “things may shift”. The previous playtest itself was delayed a number of times. Halo: Reach will be the first of the modern Halo titles to arrive on PC as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and recently had its PC progression system detailed.
The six games in The Master Chief Collection will roll out one at a time, and developer 343 Industries has stated that although it wants mod support in the PC version, it will focus first on bringing the games to PC.
