Hood: Outlaws & Legends is the newest contender set to enter the PvPvE arena, promising a dark take on the legend of Robin Hood but also lots of sneaking and brutal combat. Like with all multiplayer-focused games, crossplay and cross-platform support quickly become subjects of interest among prospective players.
Being a PvPvE game means that other players will work with you to further your team’s goals but also attempt to thwart you from making off with the treasure. Hood: Outlaws & Legends crossplay would inevitably provide a larger pool of players when matchmaking and publisher Focus Home Interactive has confirmed that cross-platform support will be available at launch.
“Hood: Outlaws & Legends will feature matchmaking crossplay, meaning a shared player pool between platforms, in order to have quick queue times, reads a section of the game’s official FAQ.
“While matchmaking will draw from different platforms, it will not be possible to invite players from other platforms to your team at launch. This is because we decided early in the project that we didn’t want to impose an account creation on players.”
This approach will make it easier for players to jump right in and start playing, rather than spend time making an account prior to doing so. At the same time, this doesn’t allow the developer to track players outside of their own platform, which is why you won’t be able to party with friends playing on a different one.
“It would be great to bring this after release, but we’ll have to evaluate how much players want this because this is a big chunk of work for the team and will impact other features and content. As for anything when you develop a game, it will be a tough choice but guided by player feedback,” the FAQ notes.
You’ll also be able to opt out of Hood: Outlaws & Legends’ crossplay matchmaking, should you prefer playing only with and against users on your own platform.
With Hood: Outlaws & Legends’ cross-platform support now covered, here’s why the Sheriff of Nottingham is a pretty important part of the game’s heists.
