Publisher Focus Home Interactive and developer New World Interactive have announced that multiplayer first-person shooter Insurgency: Sandstorm is set to receive a new map and mode, alongside two new weapons later today.
These additions arrive just prior to Insurgency: Sandstorm’s upcoming Steam free weekend which kicks off on June 20 and lasts until June 24.
Insurgency: Sandstorm New Map, Mode, Steam Free Weekend
Insurgency: Sandstorm’s new map, Ministry, is actually a remake of the map with the same name from the original title that focuses on close-quarters combat. The new mode, Frenzy, has been described as an “zombie-inspired arcade mode”.
Update 1.3 will also introduce two new weapons and attachments. Insurgents get the QBZ-03 Chinese assault rifle and TAR-21 MARS-style red dot optic, while Security forces can now equip the VHS-2 Croatian assault rifle and MRO “Micro Red Dot” optic. Insurgency: Sandstorm’s Update 1.3 is expected to go live at 3pm MT / 11pm CEST today.
Insurgency: Sandstorm also revealed its free content roadmap just a few days ago. New World Interactive’s shooter is set to receive a number of additions including new weapons, maps, night versions of existing maps and more until the end of the year.
