Tears of Metal still hasn’t locked a release date, but we can’t wait for this hack-and-slash roguelike full of blood, style, and Scots. If you were dying for new updates, know that you’re not alone, but at least we have a new Steam demo to tide us over.
The new demo includes “new and quirky Daily Challenges” and “brutal difficulty laced with a touch of silliness.” Apparently, if you survive them and collect enough badges, there’ll be a cosmetic frame to use online as a reward. It’s unclear whether this will transfer over to the full game, which is still set on Steam for 2025. With less than three months to go now, one has to wonder when we’ll finally get a launch date.
The full list of content available in the demo is the following:
- Play through the first act, ending with a boss fight against Gilles the Hog
- Fight solo or in 4-player co-op
- Harness power from 4 clans of Emblems (more in the full game)
- Unlock 30+ Charms through challenges
- Daily Challenges now in the Emporium: earn badges & a cosmetic frame
- By popular demand: a WARCRY BUTTON!
- QoL improvements + bug fixes (see our Discord for details)
“Carve through hordes of enemies on vast battlefields, by yourself or with your friends. Difficult challenges await at every turn. Fight your way across the island and wield unique combinations of mighty powers on every attempt. Rally more Scottish troops and grant them permanent upgrades as they acquire experience and grow stronger. The Dragon Stone Meteor event brought swarms of occupiers to your doors, and along with it, mysterious and dangerous powers. Inscribe your name in legends, and lead your troops in a campaign to reclaim your home.”
At the time of writing, Tears of Metal is only confirmed to disembark on PC (Steam).
