Publisher Paradox Interactive today announced the opening of its new Barcelona-based studio, Paradox Tinto, which will tackle the development of grand strategy games, initially focusing on Europa Universalis IV.
Paradox Tinto will be lead by Johan Andersson, the original creator of the Europa Universalis video game franchise and a veteran of the publisher’s in-house Paradox Development Studios.
Paradox Tinto to Focus on Europa Universalis 4 and Grand Strategy Games
Paradox Tinto will be made up of a “small core team” that will “initially oversee ongoing development on Paradox’s iconic grand strategy game, Europa Universalis IV” before moving to new projects in the same genre.
As it approaches its seventh anniversary, Europa Universalis IV is set to receive a new expansion, titled Emperor, next week.
Although nothing official was shared about a potential sequel, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if this ends up being a preliminary step towards revealing Europa Universalis V further down the line.
Paradox Tinto is publisher’s Paradox Interactive’s seventh studio, its operations now present in no less than four countries. Anyone interested can check out its job openings.
In other grand strategy news, the publisher is also gearing up for the September release of Crusader Kings III, which left us impressed when we previewed it last month.
We're happy to announce the arrival of a new member of our family! Paradox Tinto, our new studio, lead by @producerjohan, will open in Barcelona in 2020, putting together a small team to work on @E_Universalis. Want to join them? Jobs opened now on https://t.co/imugI457OT
