After a strong last stretch of 2025, Kinetic Games is ramping up its update and Switch 2 launch plans for co-op horror hit Phasmophobia with a stacked 2026 roadmap.
Though no dates or specific release windows have been provided at the time of writing, Kinetic Games has put together a substantial roadmap for its huge horror-themed hit in the coming months. We’d been told 2026 was set to be the game’s biggest year yet after the team’s confidence in hitting 1.0 after years of development, but with a Nintendo Switch 2 version set to arrive soon-ish and more reworks on the way, things are looking remarkably busy.
The full release and Switch 2 port spearhead the major updates, but veterans might be excited for the planned player character overhaul (models, animations, and customisation are all getting a refresh) and base-level upgrade to Unity 6 and the game’s network elements.
We’re especially curious about what Kinetic means with “horror rework” and “lore update” when it comes to the big 1.0 launch, but we’re predicting Phasmophobia is becoming a more serious and far spookier co-op experience moving forward.
Of course, new content is on its way as well, with two map reworks (Tanglewood and Willow) that will introduce revamps with new layouts and a few more interactions. The developers are also teasing a “mystery lurking the shadows of 6 Tanglewood Drive.” Needless to say, events will remain a common occurrence, with Cursed Hollow, Crimson Eye, and Winters Jest all making a return… alongside a new one-time event that’s being kept a secret for now.
“We are constantly working on creating a truly immersive experience for ghost hunters, and have been developing the game with this in mind. Previous updates including Chronicle and our upcoming Player Character update have all been steps in fulfilling our vision, and we hope the 1.0 launch will feel as fresh and exciting as when the game first launched back in 2020,” said Daniel Knight (Dknighter), CEO and Game Director of Kinetic Games.
Phasmophobia is currently available on PC (Steam), PS5, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S via early access.
