Psychonauts 2 has been delayed once again, developer Double Fine announced in a backer update on crowdfunding platform Fig. The title is now aiming for a 2020 release date.
This marks the second time Psychonauts 2 suffered a delay, the same thing happening in 2018, when the game was pushed to 2019.
Psychonauts 2 Release Date Delay
"We’re now targeting next year for release. We know it’s always disappointing when you have to wait a bit longer, but we also know that you are an amazing, supportive bunch, who - just like us - want the game to be as good as possible. So we’re hopeful you’ll understand! <3", the backer update reads.
The post also brings up the fact that although Double Fine is now part of Xbox Game Studios and Psychonauts 2 is now being published by Microsoft, all promises made during the Fig campaign will be fulfilled, including that of bringing the title to the PS4.
Initially Psychonauts 2 was going to be published by Starbreeze, which was facing its own share of issues. In the meantime, Double Fine is preparing for the launch of its post-post-apocalyptic rogue-like Rad, which is set to happen quite soon.
