Customers are reporting that their pre-orders of Resident Evil: Requiem in Deluxe and Steelbook versions are being cancelled just over two weeks from the game’s launch.
Anticipation for the survival horror sequel is growing as we get closer to its launch, but for some, there’s been a disappointing bump in the road on the journey to the 9th Resident Evil.
Resident Evil: Requiem Physical Release Woes
Several people on r/residentevil have received the same email from Amazon stating it is unable to fulfil orders of Resident Evil: Requiem Deluxe Edition and Steelbook as they aren’t available from the supplier.
One user showed there is now an Amazon Exclusive Edition for $69.99 on PS5, but delivery is estimated for March 16, 2026. Nearly three weeks after the game launches. To be fair, delivery estimates can be wildly off on Amazon at the best of times, so that may not be an issue (beyond the frustration of Resi fans who won’t know if they’ll be able to play Requiem at launch).
Steelbook copies had recently become available again, but they now appear to be unavailable to anyone, including preorders.
Physical game preorders are no strangers to sudden cancellations, especially with any special editions. A miscommunication somewhere along the line led to an influx of customers being turned away due to relatively limited stock.
It’s frustrating for physical game enthusiasts to get vague answers and no real solutions. It only hurts the chances of future physical media in the age of instant digital access.
We’ll soon see if this situation is more widespread regarding Resident Evil: Requiem. We’ve reached out to Capcom for comment.
