Resident Evil 3 Remake may already be well under development, and may even be getting geared up for an announcement following the release of Resident Evil 2 Remake. This information has recently been revealed in a Resetera thread by a well-known source who has been correct numerous times before.
Mind, it is still merely an unsubstantiated rumour, though a highly-plausible one at that. Down below you'll find all the details we've got on this unicorn of a project, as well as discussing what sort of reasoning Capcom might have to remake Resident Evil 3.
Resident Evil Remake 3 was namedropped in a Resetera thread discussing whether Capcom should hypothetically remake Resident Evil 3 or Code Veronica. Here, a user going by the nick of Dusk Golem chipped in with what might potentially be insider info.
"Resident Evil 3 Remake is already in development," they said. "RE3 is the last mainline RE game that needed a version for easier porting in the future." It is worth noting that the user in question correctly predicted details on both Resi 7 itself, and its follow-up DLC releases.
Dusk Golem was careful to reference how, following the release of REmake 2, all of the mainline Resident Evil titles will have been ported to MT Framework and RE Engine, short of Resident Evil 3. It would only make sense for Capcom to wrap this up by making REmake 3, thus allowing for easier porting of the franchise to next-gen platforms in the future.
Similarly, Resident Evil 8 is almost certain to continue in the footsteps of Resident Evil 7 - a highly-atmospheric first-person horror title in a slightly reworked universe, and remaking Resident Evil 3 would satiate those fans who disapprove of one such move.
What do you think? Are we getting a REmake 3 announcement soon?
