With free-to-play PvP Highguard out in the wild on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, when will it arrive on Nintendo Switch 2?
Created by some of the minds behind FPS icons Titanfall and Apex Legends, Wildlight Entertainment’s Highguard sees teams of players fight to secure pivotal objectives to capture enemy bases.
The game supports both cross-platform and cross-progression across its launch platforms, which is a nice feature. However, one set of modern hardware owners is currently out in the cold.
The Switch 2 has seen Nintendo draw in a lot more modern titles than previous consoles managed, often squaring up to the versions seen on the other major platforms. So it’s become quite normal to see it included in launch plans. However, it’s understandably difficult to work on a new console version alongside ones for established platforms, so the Switch 2 does get left out of initial plans on occasion, especially for bigger games and online titles.
Highguard did not launch on Switch 2 alongside PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. But will it arrive at a later date?
Highguard on Nintendo Switch 2: When Will it be Released?
As it stands, there are no concrete plans for a Highguard Nintendo Switch 2 release.
With a rocky start to life after an underwhelming reveal at The Game Awards and a negative reception on Steam despite strong concurrent player numbers at launch, the chances of a Highguard Switch 2 release will likely depend on how things play out for the game.
Games have come back from tough starts before, and Wildlight has already laid out a roadmap for Highguard, so it’s clear it isn’t abandoning it anytime soon.
We will see if that means a Switch 2 version remains a possibility.
