When will Total War: Warhammer 40,000 release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S? Total War: Warhammer 40,000’s reveal was a key moment during 2025’s The Game Awards, officially unveiling the next entry in Creative Assembly’s storied franchise while confirming that it will arrive on both PC and consoles.
This is a notable change for the grand strategy series, which was originally built with PC in mind and, until now, has remained exclusive to the platform. Total War: Warhammer 40K’s PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release looks to signal that we’re entering a new era for the grand strategy franchise, with developer Creative Assembly shifting to its new Warcore engine as it also announced Medieval 3 is in development.
Total War: Warhammer 40,000 PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Release
Sadly, publisher Sega and developer Creative Assembly have yet to offer firm information about when we can expect Total War: Warhammer 40K to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
We know that it’s certainly headed to the consoles, since it was confirmed in both the announcement and the game’s reveal trailer, which features the Xbox and PlayStation logos at the end.
- Total War: Warhammer 40,000 PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release status: Confirmed, potentially launching simultaneously with PC
This is all that we can certainly say at this point in time. Speculating for a moment, we do expect the console versions to launch at the same time as the PC version, following the pattern of many other multiplatform releases.
Still, this highly anticipated entry is treading new ground for both the series and developer Creative Assembly. Unless the formula is being reworked, faithfully adapting it to consoles could require serious effort. Thus, we may see Total War: Warhammer 40K’s console versions launching after their PC counterpart.
We’ll have to wait for official confirmation from the developer regarding when Total War: Warhammer 40,000 will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S before we can be certain. In the meantime, learn what we know about its factions and system requirements.
