Will Subnautica 2 be 4-players in co-op? One of the most notable differences between the survival game sequel and its predecessors revolves around it being developed as an experience that can be enjoyed alongside others. This, naturally, raises questions around the number of Subnautica 2 max players able to team up in the same session.
Subnautica 2’s co-op mode is available as part of its early access version, allowing us to join our friends on underwater adventures while the developer irons out any kinks before the title’s full launch.
Subnautica 2 Co-Op Max Players
As it sets off on its early access journey, the max player number that can tackle Subnautica 2 in co-op is four. This means that you can have up to three friends join you, thanks to what proves to be a rather flexible system.
- Subnautica 2 co-op max players number: 4 (as of early access launch)
Subnautica 2’s co-op worlds can be freely joined, although anyone hopping in late can miss out on story progress. Shared unlocks lend themselves to a fairly smooth experience.
At the start of early access, four pre-designed characters are available, but additional choices and customization options will arrive at a later point in time.
Previously, the developer did admit that it could not predict how having up to four players tackling Subnautica 2 in co-op would impact the sense of horror and isolation that contributed to the series popularity.
Nevertheless, the mode is here to stay, and anyone seeking something closer to the original experience still has the option of playing solo.
It’s unclear at the moment whether or not developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment plans on raising Subnautica 2’s max player count above four. If it doesn’t, perhaps crafty modders might find a solution.
That covers what you need to know about whether or not Subnautica 2 supports 4 players in co-op and the maximum player count available as the game enters early access.
