Bulkhead has confirmed that Wardogs takes place in the fictional Eastern European region of Kolchia, itself based on locations the dev team visited in Georgia. The studio has also confirmed that the central idea behind each match is that three factions are fighting over PV-1, which Bulkhead describes as “a rare resource fuelling decades of Eurasian conflict.” Bulkhead has also confirmed three maps for the early access launch.
So far, there is no indication that factions have unique skills or attributes; every player gets access to the same items/equipment when picking a loadout. There’s also no word on whether additional lore or factions will be added. As such, the three teams that players can be a part of are:
- LONESTAR (blue logo): Heavy-hitters in the Western paramilitary world, from Texas.
- VALKYRA (red logo): A Russian team that aims to return the Soviet People's Republic to greatness.
- MANTICORE (green logo): The Kingdom of Persia, Tehran’s shadow army.
