DSO Gaming reports that a member of the CD Projekt RED development team has contacted them to reveal that the Witcher 3 studio is in discussions with Electronic Arts regarding a potential takeover.

The employee provided a payslip as evidence of their position, though as with all reports like this it's impossible to fully confirm the veracity of the source.

CD Projekt RED "excited to switch to guns" with Cyberpunk 2077, "more and more people" moving onto project

This year was a no-show for Cyberpunk 2077 at E3, but that was by design. In fact we aren't going to be seeing anything substantial at all for about two more years. The initial reveal trailer was to 'gauge interest'.

The response "has been incredible," said CD Projekt RED co-CEO Marcin Iwinski, and it also helped them avoid 'burning out on swords'. The studio is kept "energized with Cyberpunk."

Issues of "graphical downgrades" aside, I think it's fair to say the reception for CD Projekt's behemoth RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been rather positive so far. It looks like being the title that breaks the series into the mainstream.

"Sales of the third part will be many times higher than with our earlier games. Preorders indicate this," says CD Projekt's chief executive Adam Kicinski. "We broke into the mainstream. It is such a moment in our firm's history that after some years people will look differently at CD Projekt before and after this release."

With CD Projekt RED having pushed RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt further back into May earlier this month, the studio is "now focusing entirely" on it to ensure they have it in the best shape possible.

What about that other RPG Cyberpunk 2077? We're told "worry not" about the highly anticipated sci-fi romp, as its "time will come." There's no release schedule yet for it. Hopefully before 2077.

Don't expect more info on CD Projekt's dystopian RPG Cyberpunk 2077 for a while

Those hoping to get a closer look at CD Projekt's promising futuristic RPG Cyberpunk 2077 (I count myself firmly in that bracket) may have to wait a little while longer than they'd like.

According to the company's head of marketing and public relations Michal Platkow-Gilewski, "The first rule of Cyberpunk 2077 is that we don't talk about Cyberpunk 2077."
