Online action-strategy Army 21 from one-man indie, early Alpha testing now live

Former Westwood Studios and EA man (give him a chance!) is now at war on all fronts as he leads an army of one in creating his new indie action-strategy game Army 21, which sounds a bit like Renegade.

Except it's turning up the heat a lot. It all starts with 6 teams, which whittles down to the remaining two. As teams get knocked out their players join the surviving teams. It's all about base warfare.

Renegade-X open beta begins for multiplayer

The Command & Conquer: Renegade inspired project known as Renegade-X has just entered open beta for its multiplayer component, having already released its single-player campaign. Protect the harvester!

Command and Conquer mode is the traditional base assault and defence gameplay from the Westwood original, in all its shooter glory. Zerg rush? Pfft. Flame tanks more like.

Renegade X is the resurrection, Tiberium mutation and celebration of the original Command & Conquer: Renegade, and it's scheduled to release entirely free in February 2014. GDI and Nod never looked so good.

We chatted with Totem Arts founder Bilal Bakri and Lead Artist Robin Wilson about the Renegade X project, which began as an Unreal Engine 3 mod. It's 'calling home' to a lost generation.

A stellar looking remake of Command & Conquer: Renegade is near full release as the Unreal engine powered Renegade-X has gone through extensive testing to bring back the now classic online shooter.

Pitting GDI and Nod forces against each other, each team has a base to protect and utilise while they try to destroy the enemy. The community remake began in 2007 and releases in 2014.

Fan-made 'Tiberium Crystal War' reaches 1.5, total conversion for C&C Renegade

The classic C&C Renegade from EA has been converted by a mod team so that it features vehicles, structures and locations from Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars.

It's a standalone creation so it doesn't need the original game to play. The mode from MPF has reached version 1.5 and weighs in at 670MB. They've converted as many assets as possible.
