David Bishop, President of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, has a warm and fuzzy feeling that next year will be great for Blu-ray sales with recent price drops.
With price points coming down from a hefty $400 to a more merciful $200 on players, he expects Blu-ray sales to increase to 150 per cent throughout 2009. January is key.
If those discs don’t get shifted by the bucket load after Christmas than Bishop’s prediction is likely to fall flat on its face so next month is a pivotal one for team Blu-ray.
The movies come in HD quality so the appeal is there, and now with the price lowered for players it’ll be easier to swallow. It’s a shame Sony hasn’t reduce the PS3 price tag a little.
