The studio is ”still waiting for the right time to show it off,” but Smektala says we’ll start as a ‘normalish’ zombie earning XP to level up, unlocking skills. We invade others’ games.
Techland had multiplayer co-op in Dead Light but it was far from a perfect system, but the studio plans to really up the bar with Dyling Light.
”In terms of online gameplay you get to play the whole game in four-player co-op. It’s drop-in drop-out, so someone could join you or leave at any time,” explained Tymon Smektala in our interview.
”The other thing is that we have a special mode called “Be The Zombie” that allows you to play as one of the zombies and invade other people’s games.” We don’t just play the role of a shuffling grunt, but can RPG our way to terror.
”What’s extra cool about that is that you get experience points for your zombie character and you can level it up. You start off as a basic zombie and finish with this ultimate killing machine. We announced this mode about three weeks ago but we’re still waiting for the right time to show it off,” he continued.
Our rotting walking carcasses are ”slightly different to the normal zombies as they wouldn’t be much fun to play, it’s a bit more special. It’s still quite weak and it doesn’t have any extra skills, but when you build it up it gets stronger and more skilful… if it’s okay to say “skilful” when talking about zombies!”
