If you’ve been following Apex Legends closely, you’re likely to have heard about the dragon leak that surfaced back in March. Strange flyers were dug up in the game files, alongside a rough model, but things soon turned to silence.
That all changed today when, after a patch, players started spotting those same dragon flyers casually flying across Kings Canyon.
Apex Legends Dragon Flyers
The Apex Legends flyers are a bit of a mystery right now. Firstly, we’re not sure if they’re actually dragons or not. Secondly, they’re strangely peaceful, flying fairly low while carrying loot boxes. Shoot them enough and they’ll let them go.
The flyers’ loot boxes are the same as those dropped by players upon death. Free loot is always awesome, but one has to wonder how the Apex Legends dragons actually get their claws on the boxes. Are they some sort of terribly efficient cleaning crew? Do they pick them up from Kings Canyon’s tall peaks where someone hid them?
We’re likely to find more about the flyers in the coming days. Still, their introduction so close to the start date of Apex Legends’ Season 2 could suggest that developer Respawn is setting the stage for something different. Whether that’s true or not, Apex Legends now has dragons flying around and they carry loot. Can’t complain about that.
