Crusader Kings 3 is getting same-sex marraige when patch 1.5 drops early next month, Paradox has confirmed.
The developer offered more details about the feature in Crusader Kings 3's most recent dev diary, confirming that it will be available both in modded and unmodded games.
"Coming with 1.5 is support for same-sex marriage, not only just in mods either but as a new game rule alongside the Same-Sex relations game rule so you can use it in un-modded games too. We've updated a variety of AI logic and interactions and content to take that into account when playing," the developer diary reads.
"Mods are of course able to implement this into their different worlds without it having to be a game rule, it can be based on different cultures or anything in the game world at all."
While same-sex relationships were already a part of the base game, players previously had to use mods if they wanted same-sex concubines in their playthroughs.
Previously, patch 1.3 unintentionally broke these mods, but they got fixed in patch 1.4. The addition of same-sex marriages in the grand strategy game's next update will further increase the number of options available to players and modders.
Crusader Kings 3's patch 1.5 launches on February 8, accompanying the game's first major expansion, Royal Court.
