Europa Universalis 5’s hotfix 1.0.6 is now live, its patch notes announcing that the recent changes to trade maintenance costs have been reverted to their previous values.
EU5’s hotfix 1.0.6 fixes several critical issues that had adverse effects on the grand strategy game while also tackling issues regarding pirates.

Developer Paradox Tinto does, however, explain that “this reversion does not mean the trade system is exempt from future changes, we’ll continue to monitor your feedback on trade and how it plays into the economy moving forward.”
EU5’s hotfix 1.0.6 also continues the studio’s efforts to remove crashes, including one related to bankruptcy. Seeing your country potentially entering a death spiral is enough disappointment already.

Gameplay
- Trade Expenses are now calculated correctly
- Restored Merchant Maintenance to 1.0.4 levels
- Food stockpiles now deplete properly when no maintenance for food.
- Antipiracy Warfare is now applied correctly
Miscellaneous
- Fix crash related to bankrupcy
- Fix crash when clicking on alerts for Cassus Bellis and Lacking food
- Fix crash related to write coat of arms data into save file
- Fixed depopulation alert not showing correctly the needed information.
- Fixed a crash related to the dominant language
- Fixed Military Panel overview Stats overflowed due to brand new added Levy Combat Efficiency.
