Publisher Sega and developer Amplitude Studios today announced that historical 4X strategy game Humankind has been delayed until August.
Originally set to launch on April 22, Humankind’s delay gives the developer four more months to focus on polishing different areas of the game, including accessibility, onboarding, pacing, balancing, diplomacy, and AI.
This is based on the feedback received during the Lucy OpenDev test session, when players who pre-ordered the game could go through 4 eras and try out 40 of the cultures that will be available when the full game launches.
“Players have always been at the heart of Amplitude's philosophy and releasing HUMANKIND in August will allow us the extra time to keep working with the community and polishing the game for an amazing day one experience.” said SEGA in a statement sent to GameWatcher today.
Humankind’s new release date is slated for August 17. Players who pre-order the game will also receive the Lucy and Edgar Alan Poe avatar sets, used in customizing their leaders.
