Total War: Warhammer 3’s patch 6.2 has more changes and additions in store for us, tiding us over while we wait for the launch of the upcoming Tides of Torment DLC.
Joining the ranks of Warhammer 3’s smaller updates, patch 6.2 nonetheless puts in the work to improve areas of the strategy game that are lagging behind. To this extent, developer Creative Assembly is revising magic items while also adding new ones, introducing AI improvements, and expanding the strategy game’s unit roster with two free additions.

Total War: Warhammer 3 Patch 6.2 Content
Warhammer III’s patch 6.2 magic item revision aims to address a bevy of issues affecting this part of the game, which piled up as new items were added in various content releases across the trilogy.
The blog post above goes in-depth on how the developer is approaching things. It breaks down the exact numbers determining an item’s rarity and strength alongside how they are being adjusted not just to make these equippables feel better to use now, but also ensure that they’re easier to balance in the future.
Item availability is also being addressed, given how “a player will wind up with tens of unused items, going into the hundreds in the much longer campaigns.”
Sorting through and equipping gear also becomes a hassle during the later stages of a campaign, which is why the drop rate will be lowered across the board.
Item drop chance effects will “remain unchanged,” so building factions “around becoming an item dropping machine” is still possible when Total War Warhammer 3’s patch 6.2 release date comes around.
The magic item revision also works to ensure that item drops “are smarter, and more player centric.”
Rather than continuing with the current, truly random approach to gear drops, “the game will understand which items have already dropped in your campaign, what items you are and aren’t using, offering up items that we can see you don’t have already, instead of giving you more items that are similar to the ones we can see are just sat as unused in your item pool.”
Fused items will “provide an item of the same category,” making it easier to target gear that your characters might be lacking, while their rare counterparts can be fused into unique versions once Warhammer 3’s patch 6.2 releases. Furthermore, banner restrictions are also being removed.
The update also brings us several new unique items, including The Eight Burning Books of Khorne, as well as two new units in the shape of the Hobgoblin Bolt Throwers as a siege weapon for the Chaos Dwarfs and the Blood Knights (Sword and Shield).
The full patch notes also reveal that Warhammer III’s patch 6.2 “introduces a significant tech improvement, enhancing our compression standards to enable fast decompression speeds for most files within the game packages,” which should result in the game taking less space on our hard drive and load time improvements.
The update “will seem unusually large, and is estimated to clock in at 55GB in your downloads, but will ironically reduce your overall install size once installed,” according to the developer.
As expected, in addition to all the changes mentioned above, a series of bug fixes will also be deployed.
That covers what we know so far about Total War: Warhammer III’s patch 6.2 release date and the content it aims to introduce.
