Diablo 5 is coming. As we eagerly await more details, here’s the quick rundown on the Diablo 5 release date, confirmed platforms, and trailers, plus some answers to the frequently asked questions that veterans and newcomers have.
Blizzard Entertainment has surprised fans of the long-running action RPG series with the announcement that Diablo 4 won’t be getting more expansions and the next age of Sanctuary will be even darker and defined by a completely different structure. It’s a bold new direction for the franchise, but one that could really pay off as the developers seek to mix elements from all over the series.
Diablo 5: Release Date
The Diablo 5 release date hasn’t been revealed yet, as the game is now in production and won’t be ready to ship for a few years. Alongside the reveal trailer, however, the company gave us a tentative release window.
- Diablo 5 release window: Spring 2029
As always, never fully trust the release window for a video game since delays can happen, but considering all the work that’s already done and the wide gap between now and 2029, it might be safe to say we’ll play Diablo 5 before the 2030s begin.
Diablo 5: Confirmed Platforms
Blizzard hasn’t confirmed the platforms Diablo 5 will release on yet. However, it’s safe to assume PC will be the main one.
Since Activision-Blizzard is owned by Xbox, there’s also the question of whether the Diablo series will remain multiplatform or join the select group of IPs that Xbox is attempting to lock inside the Xbox and PC (Windows) ecosystem.
Another important question, looking at current market trends and the ongoing component crisis, is whether Diablo 5 will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Chances are new consoles will be out by then, but the next generation might be off to a slower start, so this could be a cross-generation release like Diablo 4.

Diablo 5 FAQ
What classes are in Diablo 5?
Blizzard has confirmed three Diablo 5 classes so far. The roster includes the Demon Hunter, Monk, and Plague Knight. However, we’ve also been told to expect “more classes than ever before” at launch, though it may be a while before we get a look at more of them.
Can Diablo 5 be played offline?
At the time of writing, it hasn’t been confirmed if Diablo 5 needs a permanent online connection like Diablo 3 on PC and Diablo 4 on all platforms. Addressing complaints about D4’s always-online requirement would be a step in the right direction for Diablo 5, but it’s unclear at this point what the plans on that front are.
Does Diablo 5 have couch co-op?
There’s no word yet on whether Diablo 5 supports couch co-op like Diablo 3 and 4 on consoles, but we see no reason why Blizzard would roll back the fan-favourite option now. We wouldn’t expect support for more than two players on the same machine, though.
Where is Diablo 5 set?
Diablo 5 is set in the Western Continent, bringing players back to Westmarch and its surrounding regions. The full scope and structure of the game haven’t been detailed yet, but we know Blizzard is moving away from the traditional cities and towns (and probably Diablo 4’s open world format altogether). Instead, the players join a caravan of refugees and allies as they traverse a world that’s fallen prey to Diablo and his followers.
