Assassin's Creed: Unity Latest Updates
Following the Notre-Dame Fire, Ubisoft is giving away Assassin's Creed Unity on PC and donating to the cathedral's reconstruction efforts.
The Assassin's Creed franchise has seen an annual release every single year since 2009's Assassin's Creed II; if one counted the Nintendo DS game Altaïr's Chronicles, then it's seen a yearly release since the very first Assassin's Creed game in 2007. There have been 17 Assassin's Creed games, spinoffs, and expansions in the past 10 years. Ubisoft has announced that the next Assassin's Creed game will be launched in 2017. However, the series may no longer be annualised after that, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.
Assassin's Creed games have somewhat fallen into an unfortunate state where the annual release has cheapened the franchise. However, new reports claim that Ubisoft may actually take a break for 2016 to try at a new game next year and that this new game may be set in Egypt.
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate has had the second worst selling opening week in franchise history, behind only Assassin's Creed: Rogue in that department. In Ubisoft's investors call last night, the publisher blamed it on the negative fan feedback of last year's Assassin's Creed: Unity.
Assassin's Creed Unity was derided for its instability and shoddy development at its launch, and the game's Senior Producer François Pelland promises that Assassin's Creed Syndicate won't have the same issues.
