Curt Schilling, a former Red Sox pitcher, owns the Massachusetts-based developer 38 Studios. They’re busying working on their Project Copernicus MMO for the PC.
Job listings reveal they’re expanding to the PlayStation 3 with a singleplayer RPG, but this is to be handled by their new subsidiary, Big Huge Games. Copernicus remains desktop only.
38 Studios has lured in notable veterans like Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, Everquest designer Travis McGeathy, fantasy author R. A. Salvatore and even Oblivion designers.
This PS3 RPG needs a Senior PS3 Programmer and a Project Art Director for their new digs in Timonium, Maryland. That’s where Big Huge Games is located. The Project Copernicus MMO has been in the works for a number of years now.
The plan seems to be keeping the MMO PC exclusive but tapping into the console space with a singleplayer RPG set in the same universe, hopefully to inspire some gamer crossover.
