As if there wasn’t already loads to do in developer Little Green Men Games’ space-faring strategy/RPG/action hybrid Starpoint Gemini 2, there’s a new update out which adds a bunch of freelance missions to the game.
As well as taking part in some station assault and defence missions, you’ll find various UI improvements and some “drastically improved” AI behaviour routines.
It will be interesting to see how those station-based missions play out. When I reviewed the game a month or two back, my main disappointment was that dew of the missions available really made you feel as though you were having an effect on the universe around you.
Improved NPC AI is never a bad thing either. Ship captains now use skills and equipment, and make use of some of the abilities that previously only the player had access to. They’ll also differ in approach depending on their faction. “Since we have opened up a lot of possibilities for the AI,” write the developers, “we’ll keep a closer look on balance in combat and tweak things accordingly. AI improvements won’t stop here as well - you can expect further improvements in this area!”
You can view the fairly extensive patch notes for this latest update over on Starpoint Gemini 2’s Steam page.
