World of Warcraft has lost another 1.5 million monthly subscribers since May, Blizzard has revealed in its second quarter financial report (.PDF link), knocking it down to a total of 5.6 million.
That's not quite as dramatic as the 3 million lost in the company's first quarter, but it's still a significant figure. The new total number of subscribers is the game's lowest since 2005, according to VentureBeat.
That said, WoW is still by far the most popular MMO on the planet, and given that post-exapnsion drop-offs are sort of expected (Warlords of Draenor briefly bumped up subs when it launched last November), I'm sure Blizzard won't be pulling their hair out just yet.
Especially when they've already confirmed that another expansion is on the way. More info on that is expected this week, on August 6 to be exact.
