Here's another potential release date leak for you. Id Software's upcoming DOOM reboot is said to be releasing across all platforms on the 30th June, 2016 according to a listing from Amazon's French site (Spotted by). That makes this the third release date leak in two days, with and leaking yesterday.
Then again, it's possible that this listing is just a placeholder, or even a mistake, but Amazon's product pages have been on the mark in the past. We've reached out to Id Software for comment, so we'll let you know if we hear anything more official.
Bethesdaonly late last year that Doom won't support modding outside of its SnapMap editor tool, and though it sounds like a fairly complex tool, it's not as wide-ranging as the mod community might hope.
”Everything that we’re doing on the mod side will be through SnapMap,” marketing VP Pete Hines said. "Give it to anybody and they can do simple stuff, but the complex stuff, all those things that used to be super-complicated... the idea is that there's enough complexity and depth there that you can do all this scripting stuff, and make new gameplay modes. It’s got this really steep high end, but you don’t have to jump right to it like you do with the (previously released) Doom tools."
The Doom reboot is currently confirmed as a spring 2016 release, so 30th June would be a realistic window by just about passing that period. We'll have more on Doom in the coming months.
