Warframe Gauss is the next biomechanical combat proxy that’s being added to the popular free-to-play shooter, and it seems to be coming with a pretty substantial new update: the Saint of Altra, which we don’t know much about.
The current Gauss release date is slated for this week, and we’re going to give you our best educated guess on when, exactly, that might be. You’ll find plenty of other interesting information below, too, which we’ll keep updating as we get more information. Gauss build requirements, for example.
Gauss Release Date
As noted above, the big Saint of Altra update is coming out this week, but as with any other update, fans are eager to find out what day - exactly - might that be. Digital Extremes have a pretty erratic content release schedule in Warframe, and there’s really no telling when the next content drop might be. However, history teaches us that it’s not going to happen before Wednesday.
Optimistically, Saint of Altra may come out late Wednesday evening, but since the devs keep combating bugs until the content ships, their releases are usually postponed until Thursday. Very rarely, new updates even release on Friday, though this is less than ideal as devs then have to hotfix the game through the weekend.
Our best guess, then? Thursday afternoon, London (Canada) time.
Gauss Build Requirements
As long-term players of Warframe will know, we’ll have no clue on how to build (or even farm) Gauss until the update hits. Having said that, the new Saint of Altra update is bringing about a substantial expansion to the game’s Disruption mode, so we’re reasonably sure that Gauss will require something that drops there.
Furthermore, DE have even announced that the new Disruption missions will drop Kuva - a rare endgame resource - which has us suspect Gauss may need Kuva as well. We’ll update this article with solid info soon as update hits, so bear with us.
The all-new weapons that’s coming with Gauss is likely to also be included in this new farm, though that’s bound to be easier to come by than the Warframe itself.
Warframe Gauss Abilities
As an alternative to Volt, Gauss is a dedicated speed Warframe. Its abilities reflect this very well.
Mach Rush
This hyper-sprint ability sends Gauss barrelling towards enemies at insane speeds, knocking them down as the Warframe moves along. If Gauss crashes into a solid object, it generates a powerful shockwave effect in a small radius around it. Can be held to sprint over longer distances.
Kinetic Plating
Generates an armour plating that converts absorbed Kinetic damage into Energy, as well as protecting Gauss from knockdown effects. Battery level dictates how much damage is absorbed.
Thermal Sunder
By siphoning the surrounding kinetic energy, Gauss can inflict Cold and Heat status effects in the given area, or combine the two for a blast effect. Hit the ability key to cast Cold, hold the ability key to cast Heat.
Redline
Supercharge Gauss with greatly buffed fire rate, attack speed, reload speed, holster rate, and other passive bonuses, as well as increasing the potency of its other abilities. “When past the redline, bolts of arcing electricity dance periodically from Gauss, exploding en masse when the ability is deactivated.”
Passive
Moving around with Gauss generates an electric current that recharges its Speed Gauge. In turn, this recharges Gauss’ shields up to 80% faster, and decreases their recharge delay by up to 80%.

We’re very much looking forward to Saint of Altra, as we’ve no doubt it’s going to reiterate why Warframe is a mainstay on our list of best free-to-play games on PC. For a reference on how Gauss farming might go, check out our similar article on the Wisp Warframe.
