DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson has announced at GDC 2012 a new service for Battlefield 3 that will allow Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers to rent their own dedicated servers.
According to Troedsson, ”We almost see (the Battlefield 3 community) as a family.”
DICE already works with dedicated server providers for the PC version. Players who rent servers this way can adjust the server options as they see fit, choosing whether the server is public or private, what the map list cycle is, and what game modes are played. They may also kick, ban and mute players.
DICE has not revealed yet whether the company will be making the same agreements with the same providers for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.
Stay tuned.
