Blizzard had planned to offer free migration this week for players suffering ”high queue times at login” in World of Warcraft, but the plan has currently been put on hold due to an unidentified problem with the character migration page on Battle.net.
On the game’s official forums, a community manager posted the following message:
While Free Character Migrations opened this morning as planned, the page to initiate a transfer is currently and inexplicably inoperable, displaying a maintenance message. We’re continuing to investigate the cause, but don’t have a current estimate for when the FCMs will be available. We’ll provide an update and re-post the announcement on the front page of the site once they are, though.
The initial plan was to kick off the free server migration today, with the process lasting for a week, or until the servers were properly re-balanced.
We’ll keep an eye out for updates from Blizzard.
