Insurgency: Sandstorm, the Unreal Engine 4 powered sequel to 2014’s fan favourite, has just release a new trailer. Depicting a mix of gameplay and pre-rendered cutscenes in first person, the footage depicts a wounded soldier stumbling through a battle and having flashbacks of several engagements prior in the Middle-Eastern area where Sandstorm takes place.
Coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, the game will retain the series characteristic realistic gameplay, such as fully modelled ballistics and bullet penetration, while adding things like dropping magazines for faster reloads or the choice between opening a door quietly or with a shoulder bash.

The game will also feature a new co-op and versus objective-based game modes in the form of 16-versus-16 skirmishes, featuring "artillery barrages, helicopter gunships, repurposed commercial drones, air strikes, and drivable land transport vehicles". The battles themselves will take place in maps with both exterior and interior environments, to create breach opportunities and variation.
According to the developers, "Insurgency: Sandstorm rewards teamwork and objective play over personal success" and will finally include character customisation and ranked play. You can sign up for the alpha here.
