Another DLC is on the way for Crusader Kings 2, making the full count something like 348,000 if I’m recalling correctly. This one’s called Way of Life, and adds more content for customising your ruler’s personal life and relationships.
Such as having your secret lovers executed, for example. Life was cruel back in the middle ages. Paradox also announced that the traditional accompanying free patch will go into open Beta.
“Sure, it’s nice to have someone cozy up to you and be your lover while you’re sitting atop the throne,” writes Paradox in an announcement post, “but what if you could choose who to seduce? Or, after getting into that relationship on the side, what if you discover that you just need some space and had a way to break it off? You know, without having your soon-to-be ex-lover assassinated. These things and much more, including hundreds of new events, are coming to Way of Life.”
The role-playing aspect is probably my favourite part of Crusader Kings 2, so this DLC sounds right up my alley. The promise of hundred of new events? Excellent news.
As for the free patch that always accompanies the next piece of DLC, I think it’s smart for Paradox to open that up to the community in beta form. The previous patch released alongside Charlemagne contained some neat content, but the ‘elective gavelkind’ monarchy rule introduced was a recipe for frustrating, uncontrollable succession and odd bugs. It would be nice to avoid some of that by having the community give the content a thorough study before it’s finalised..
“The beta test will begin next week and we’ll have more details on how to fabricate a claim to beta test soon, so be on the lookout,” writes Paradox.
