Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2's Marauder class excels at clearing out entire swarms of Xenos, like the Demolisher in the original game. Though players might gravitate towards them due to having access to the iconic smartgun from the 1986 film, there's much more to this heavy firepower role according to the gameplay showcase.
The Blast Cannon ability keeps them viable in close encounters and allows them to reduce enemy pressure, with Blastwave and Thermal Cannon upgrades defining distinct builds. At the same time, the Titan Rockets turns them into heavy artillery platforms with explosive rockets; upgrades include Phosphorus Rockets and Rocket Mines. In all scenarios, the Xenomorphs will end up toasted and blown up. Since the Marauder is all about racking up a high number of kills, perks like Rampage improves their performance the more frags they accumulate. Meanwhile, Reactive Charges allow them to push back melee attackers every 30 seconds, but expect more options and upgrades we haven't learned about yet.
On top of the smartgun we all know and love, Marauders have access to the M12A1 rocket launcher and the OCAP-91 Volcan heavy flamethrower. Friendly fire might be an issue in higher difficulties, but enemies have something to fear when a Marauder blocks a corridor.
