Another Xenomorph enemy that needs no introduction in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is the Facehugger. The first step in the Xeno life cycle, this scorpion-like creature pounces right out of eggs laid by the Queen to quickly impregnate other animals, including humans. The Xenomorphs born out of their preys' chest cavities will, in most cases, retain many of the hosts' characteristics.
Facehuggers are really vulnerable when out of their eggs, but their speed and small size makes them hard to hit once they're moving. Colonial Marine squads will only have a few seconds to eliminate them before they attempt to impregnate the closest prey. This doesn't result in automatic death in these games, but Marines can only hold Facehuggers back with their hands for so long before they're downed. Therefore, external help is crucial to survive their attacks and minimise the impact on the overall squad's combat performance.
Of course, a recommended strategy is to open fire on all Xenomorph eggs as soon as you see them, as they only open when a suitable host lifeform is detected nearby.
